Reducing our carbon impact
by 3D printing

with Photocentric’s Daylight LCD process

  • We calculate the carbon in all of our resins.
  • We aim to reduce it by all means.
  • We are now making them from bio sources including bio waste.
  • We provide a Carbon Footprint certificate with most grades.

LCD enables low carbon throughout the process

We create resins from Bio-based polyols both renewable and bio-waste. No toxic or harmful chemicals used

We react to create thermosets using less energy than thermoplastics

Weave DfAM process combines parts where possible and reduces mass

LCD is the lowest energy form of 3D printing

Bottom-up printing enables dripping while printing ResinGlide platform removes excess

Solvent and water in post process cleaning can be reclaimed separately

The carbon calculator

Photocentric and the MTC created a digital Carbon assessment for your parts.

  • We calculate the embedded Carbon in all the raw materials and processes in making the resin
  • We calculate the Carbon added in the LCD printing process including post processing and recycling
  • We provide you with a total CO2e value for your parts. It is a live figure that varies according to changing circumstances

Carbon Analysis

1.322 g CO2-e/Part

Photocentric LCD Additive

8.809 g CO2-e/Part

Plastic Injection Moulding

Spacer part produced using Plastic Injection Moulding (PIM) generated 8.809 g CO2-e/Part and embodied 0.154 MJ energy per part. Same Part produced with Photocentric LCD Additive Manufacturing (AM) process generated 1.322 g CO2-e/Part and embodied 0.050 MJ energy per part LCD printing gives a reduction of 7.272 grams CO2-e per part or 84.9%.

Assuming analysis of case-study part is representative of all product lines, the predicted impact making 100 million components using LCD printing would be 727,200 Kg of CO2-e emissions reduced per year.

Durable product | Saving energy | Saving water | Re-using resin | Reducing waste | Lowering carbon footprint | No harmful chemicals

Our Clear Stamps are durable and designed for life, not single use. They are made using the most energy efficient processes possible. Recent investments in new technology means that we are now recycling the water used during production and reclaiming and re-using the excess resin, making the process circular and minimising waste.

Our unique process gives us the lowest material consumption, no tooling, or harmful chemicals that are used in other machining processes.

Our production is in the UK and US, and we buy locally where possible. This significantly reduces our, and your, carbon footprint. We can provide a carbon assessment on our polymer.

Our Stamps are free of toxic compounds or ozone depleting chemicals and are not carcinogenic or create toxic by-products. We are proud to say that our polymer does not contain latex, phthalates, melamine, carcinogens or toxic or harmful compounds.

We work in full compliance with HSE and OSHA health and safety laws, comply to ISO9001 and operate to ISO14001.

We are working to develop plant-based polymers from waste streams.
