One Year On: Building the Future of Manufacturing through JENI

It’s been almost a year since we debuted JENI at Formnext 2024. As such, it’s a perfect time to reflect, share our progress, and talk about the future.

Our vision remains that JENI is a platform for the future of manufacturing – one that supports reshoring, reduces production costs, and enables businesses to be more agile. JENI was never about one machine. It’s much more than that.

JENI opens the door to a revolution in how the world manufactures plastic parts and is about a shift to digital mass manufacturing. The benefits of this are substantial, including:

  • instant changes
  • removing the delays and costs of tooling
  • reducing inventory
  • gaining resilience
  • designing better products
  • lowering carbon footprint
  • fully ‘lights out’ manufacturing capability.

Project Nexus launched

In March 2025, Project Nexus launched, a 2 year collaboration across academic and industry partners, with the purpose of developing a new generation of cost effective, sustainable solutions for biopharma, harnessing JENI’s advanced high throughput 3D printing capabilities.

First JENI unit deployed

Shortly after, in April 2025, we reached an important milestone with the sale and installation of our first JENI unit in a US Production site for a multinational manufacturing business.

CTO to lead JENI’s future roadmap

In September 2025, we welcomed Sam Bernard to Photocentric as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), to lead JENI’s future development, evolving the platform to transform numerous industries. Sam previously spent 17 years at Dyson as Global Category & Product Development Director leading the strategy and delivery of numerous Dyson products.

For the last two decades Photocentric has been committed to innovation and challenging the status quo of manufacturing. Today, JENI offers a new approach to manufacturing that combines flexibility with scale, high quality with speed, and low cost with sustainability.

As we look ahead, our vision for Photocentric and for JENI is clear: empowering manufacturers to rethink how they make more – faster, flexibly, and locally.

Get ready to embrace the next era of plastics manufacturing.
