Interview with
Tracie Percifield
Hello Tracie! Can you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your role within Photocentric Inc?
I’m the VP of sales for Photocentric Inc. I love Stamps and cardmaking, and so my current position within Photocentric, helping businesses within the craft industry have access to the best quality Photopolymer Stamps, is ideal for me!
How long have you been working with Photocentric Inc, and what initially attracted you to join?
I’ve been with the business for just a little over 2 years. As a previous Papercraft and Stamp buyer at a Big Box retailer for a number of years, I was attracted to the opportunity to be on the manufacturing side of the stamp world!
What are some of the most meaningful achievements or projects you’ve been involved in during your time here?
The Craft Industry is ever evolving, and it is a privilege and an honor to be involved in New Product Innovation with our customers. The most meaningful achievement is continuing to work with our customers’ designs to manufacture the best finely detailed images.
How has your role changed since you first joined the company? Can you describe any challenges or opportunities you encountered along the way?
I joined the company during a transitional period for both the company and the US stamp manufacturing industry. Whilst there have been some challenges along the way, it has been a great opportunity for growth, for both myself and Photocentric. By employing a joined up approach with our UK based team, we are consistently manufacturing beautiful clear stamps for craft businesses throughout North America.
What do you enjoy most about working with the Photocentric Inc team and within the craft industry?
Building relationships, and helping brands grow and transform is one of my most favorite aspects of the industry, which is centered around sharing experiences, and memory keeping at its core. The people are the best part of my role. The USA team is like a family, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the industry with our team and welcoming people into the world of Craft. The Photocentric USA team has developed a core team of leaders who are passionate about the wants and needs of our customers. It is amazing to be part of a team that takes immense pride in what they are producing, and who share in the ownership of that product and experience.
‘By employing a joined up approach with our UK based team, we are consistently manufacturing beautiful clear stamps for craft businesses throughout North America.’
Can you share a memorable experience or story from your time with the company that’s had a positive impact on you?
In 2023 we have undergone some impactful changes that are reflected in the products we are manufacturing. Our current production lead (Diana) was an internal promotion, and her eye for detail on a photopolymer stamp is brilliant. She has learned the intricacies of manufacturing to the highest quality, which helps me give assurance to our customers both old and new that they product they receive will have brought their design to life in the best way possible.
What sets Photocentric Inc apart from others in the industry, in your opinion?
I think it would probably be our knowledge of the industry from multiple perspectives. We think like a manufacturer, supplier, buyer & end user that is intimately familiar with this industry and with our customers’ wants and needs. We know how deeply passionate our customers are about their businesses, and we work to truly understand them, to help form strong relationships, enabling us to be more than just a manufacturer.
Are there any particular skills or knowledge you’ve gained from working here that have been instrumental in your professional growth?
I have learned a great deal about manufacturing and the inner workings of clear stamp production. I have grown in my knowledge of systems, schedules, and the intricacies of photopolymer production techniques.
How do you stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, or developments in the Craft industry?
I try to be involved in as many craft consumer events as possible, as well as having regular conversations with key individuals in the industry. I am also very active on social media to understand how crafters are using our product.
What advice would you give to someone considering starting their own Craft business?
Do your research, ask questions. This industry is open to growth and welcoming to new brands. You will be most successful if you engage regularly in industry activities and partner with other established brands. Take the chance and go for it!
Are there any upcoming projects or initiatives within the company or industry that you’re particularly excited about?
We are working on a new, innovative way to manufacture our clear stamps that I am very excited about. I am encouraged by the potential of this new technique and the benefits we could pass onto our customers!
What are your future aspirations or goals within the company or the craft industry as a whole that you would love to see?
To provide my customers with the absolute best clear stamps on the market and have a transparent, mutually beneficial partnership.
